Chase’s Pinoy Weekend Market Themed Party – 1st Birthday

Filipino Weekend Market Theme Party Ideas

With the limited movements allowed, most of us are stuck at home and we terribly miss the hustle and bustle of the city. One thing we’re looking forward to after all these is a quick trip to the market, tiangge, or palengke. So to ease your blues a bit, we’re pretty excited to share Chase’s first birthday bash. This party has the perfect combination of an unusual yet super creative concept — a Pinoy weekend market! Hats off to the team of Party Magic and Party Doll Manila Events who pulled all the stops to bring this fantastic idea to life. Check out the snaps from Delightful Little Darlings to see why we’re absolutely enamored!

With several abaniko fans and bags forming a welcoming arch, seeing this entrance setup gave us an instant fiesta-like atmosphere! Instead of fairy lights, a trail of incandescent bulbs hung above gave a quick nod to the usual pa-ilaw we see in most markets. The signage that says “Pamilihang Bayan” served as a hint for the celebration’s unique theme.

Once inside, there’s an elaborate photo wall setup mimicking a kanto-style pares at mamihan! It’s the perfect nook for taking Insta-worthy snaps!

A stage that’s witty, pretty, and totally Pinoy? You’ll find one at Chase’s party, too! Instead of food trucks, there were food padyaks complete with bicycle wheels and big, colorful umbrellas. Different abaca elements perfectly complemented our Filipino culture and made for a cohesive, well-curated décor.

Of course, tables had a couple of Pinoy elements as well. For centerpieces, clay pots and vases held an assortment of blooms and foliage in lieu of their ceramic and glazed counterparts. And in our books, it’s a totally fresh idea!

The birthday cake is a whimsical, three-tiered masterpiece from Tazzy Cakes. Looking closer, it depicts a typical scene straight out of a weekend market complete with stalls filled with various goods like veggies and fruits. And the topper? It’s young Chase manning his own stall! So adorable!

Tazzy Cakes was the brilliant mind behind these creatively decorated desserts! Cupcakes, chocolate-covered Oreos, and other sweet treats had designs or toppers inspired by classic Pinoy favorites like Choc-nut, Mik-Mik, Nips, Stay Fresh, Haw Haw, Orange Swits, Iced Gems, and Champola! The other thing we love about their dessert buffet is the setup, reminiscent of the neighborhood sari-sari store.

Apart from desserts, guests get to choose from an array of food carts set up within and outside the party venue. Mang Alex Fishballs, Thirsty Turtle, Fluffed Cotton Candy, Mr. Churros, and Ala Cart Manila had guests lining up for snacks, pica-pica, and thirst-quenchers.

A party is never complete without a show, right? That’s why host Sang Pascual made sure that everyone had a stomping good time. Tectonix performed another jaw-dropping number, while Rico the Magician wowed the crowd with a few tricks up his sleeve.

Kids enjoy a game or two, and with fabulous prizes at stake, who wants to skip out on all the fun?

There’s also a cute reward system in place! Instead of simply handing out prizes, all guests received their own “Chase Currency” at the entrance together with a bayong. They can exchange these bills to “buy” stuff from different specialty stores. So if they want to get books, pieces of bread, toys, and fruits, they have to have earn these bills by joining different games. Cool, eh?

It looks like Chase had a great time celebrating his first birthday with his family and loved ones. We’re sure that everyone had fun, too!

  1. Hi! Can you tell me how does the money and the market works? All guests will have their own money provided at the entrance and they could get extra money if they win a game? Thanks in advance!
