When event stylist, Dentelle Manila was planning this party with Mommy Jenny, they all knew that it was imperative to stay true to the key elements of the theme. When guests walk in to the venue, their goal was for them to feel as if they were being transported to the wonderful wizarding world of Harry Potter. The atmosphere should generally feel magical and fun with a bit of mystery here and there. With the right play of colors, texture, realistic looking props and balance of design, they executed everything perfectly for Miguel’s 1st birthday party!

The entrance, besides having the Platform 9 3/4 signage, had a setup that was meant to resemble a railway shop. Miguel’s little guests were given a special cloak and were individually sorted into their house before entering the venue. All the souvenirs, wands, etc., were displayed in this area and were all free to enjoy!

My goodness, their ceiling installation is a masterpiece in itself! The Great Hall of Hogwarts is famous for its iconic ceiling decorations. It was highly necessary for them to put hanging candles and house banners. To finish the look and make it more animated, they also decided to put 3D flying owls that were carrying letters and parcels, just like in the actual setting of Harry Potter.

Right off the bat, they knew that they had to recreate the Great Hall of Hogwarts. For them to be able to give justice to the idea, they had to make the stage wide and tall, in order for it to be grand looking. The stage was 17ft in height and were made of 3D wood panels and columns. Some of the other elements that they decided to include were 3D Gryffindor knight statues, book shelves and chandeliers to give emphasis to the overall look of the stage.

The centerpiece decorations, amongst the party elements, also required the most intricate and realistic execution. The potion bottles were all made from scratch and with details as seen in the movies and read in the books. They customized all the potion bottle labels and incorporated Miguel’s name for a more personal approach to the theme. Dry ice were then put on the cauldrons to create a smoke effect on the tables while guests were arriving. Different frames with characters from the book and some clippings from the Daily Prophet were also used to complete the look. The books that were displayed had designs of the actual books being used during classes in the Harry Potter world.

Miguel’s birthday cake is a large chocolate cake with pink frosting and green icing just like the cake given by Rubeus Hagrid to Harry for his 11th birthday!

Guests were given Wizarding money/stubs to claim their treats at the dessert station. What a cool idea, indeed!
