Totoro Theme party Ideas
There’s no other way to put it: My Neighbor Totoro is simply a feat of genius! It’s no wonder that people, both young and old, love this fantasy animation by Studio Ghibli. A sweet and beautiful little girl named Bea is one of Totoro’s fans, and she must have pictured herself participating in Mei and Satsuke’s amazing adventures.
Thanks to party planner extraordinaire Party Doll Manila Events and the genius design duo at The Party Project Manila, Bea’s make-believe adventures became a reality. Every single detail lent that magical air and made everyone experience the wonderful world of Mei, Satsuke, and their playful spirit friends. Check out these wonderful photos captured by Pram and Cradle.
The magic begins at the entrance, where Bea’s guests encounter the friendly “tororu” of the forest. A blooming frenzy of Sakura flowers standing in front of an enchanted forest-like backdrop is completely breathtaking.
The visual essay moves seamlessly from the entrance to the stage, where we find another dreamy installation. It’s a symphony of lovely pastel hues! The thousand-year-old Miminzuku and two smaller cuddly tororus on the stage join Bea’s party.
The tables were adorned with pink, white, and mint-colored roses arranged in a wooden box, accompanied by a twine-covered bottle and a white lantern. A cute, gray Totoro completes the charming, shabby-chic centerpiece.
Bea’s birthday cake is a true work of art. The bottom layer resembles a tree stump covered with moss, similar to the kind you could find in the magical forest next to Mei and Satsuke’s new countryside home. Flowers, ferns, butterflies made of sweet, chewy gum paste, and some fondant mushrooms completed the enchanted forest scene. The wispy dust bunnies, some flowers, and the acorns that the Totoros handed the girls in return for the umbrella are placed on top of the second layer. A fondant Mei resting on a log with mushrooms and flowers beside it makes the perfect cake topper.
To cap off the delicious feast, guests had Totoro and dust bunny choco pops and cupcakes decked with fondant acorns and butterflies on a bed of sweet, creamy frosting.
Sorbelato’s Pinoy sorbetes and The Lemon Central’s cool, freshly squeezed juice were both popular among guests. The Creamery also offered a kids’ buffet, which included brownie squares and pancake skewers with bananas and caramel sauce. Yummy!
One of the things that most children look forward to at a party is how much fun they’ll have with the games and the show. The most sought-after party favorite is the magic show by master showman Chubster Flores. Just look at Bea laughing with glee—simply priceless!
If the children can’t go to the zoo, bring the zoo to them! At Bea’s party, young ones and adults got to pet some animals like an iguana, an albino python, and a cute turtle.
Games are always filled with excitement, but the fun prizes make them a hundred times more thrilling. There are tons of toys available, plus these sweet Totoro lunch bag giveaways from Cheerful Creatives PH for all the youngsters.
“Big things often have small beginnings” … Until she finds that big, bright future ahead within her reach, may Bea relish every new milestone that she is blessed with, and grow in wonder and joy for life.
