Chinoiserie Inspired Party Ideas
All in good taste – Chinese artistic traditions emulated by the west and blossoming into a decorative aesthetic known as Chinoiserie. From pagodas and parasols to stunning blue and white porcelain, Jacobo’s 1st birthday was every bit an embodiment of Chinoserie. Creative artist and styling genius, Kaye Termulo-Garcia has outdone herself with this fabulous bash in a classy blue-and-white motif. Jacobo and his family would be able to relive this important milestone with all the great pictures from Silver Light Photography and Stanley Ong Photography.
Jacobo’s invites had fancy “Rococoesque” details in blue-and-white. Anyone could tell that it was to be a grand yet tasteful celebration.
He’s already a fashionista at 1! Just take a look at his birthday outfit – black pants, white shirt with bow tie, a specially made blue suit and matching custom-made shoes! Jacobo must have looked so dapper in this get-up.
A large birdcage-like installation was used to welcome Jacobo’s guests. How cute!
A combination of white parasols and paper ball lanterns made a simple yet elegant ceiling decoration. It was almost magical how the scene evoked the feeling of being afloat among the clouds.
The stage had a huge screen on which slides of Jacobo’s adorable photos were shown. One of the slides mimicked the lovely design from the chic invites. On one side of the stage was a white pergola prettified with a cascading arrangement of white princess lilies.
The tables were draped in beautifully patterned blue fabric. Each one was adorned with exquisite pieces of blue and white porcelain vases. The tallest vase had blooms of Stargazer lilies while smaller one had an arrangement of royal velvet Agapanthus blossoms. The third and fourth smaller vases had white Dragon Snaps and roses.
Jacobo had a towering 3-layer cake. Details like those on the invites were masterfully hand-painted on the fondant on each one of the layers. While the first and third layers were covered in white fondant, the second layer had light blue fondant and details were in white edible paint. There was a good-looking fondant prince standing on a moon bridge right at the center of the three-tiered cake. A blue and white pagoda was the perfect topper for this wonderful birthday cake.
The sweet treats in Jacobo’s dessert spread were “to-die-for”! There were dainty sugar cookies in designs that made them too pretty to eat. The cupcakes looked gorgeous with roses and birdcages as embellishments. There were also chocolate Oreopops that looked just as nice. I’m sure you’ll agree when I say that this was the mother of all dessert spreads…
Guests enjoyed a luxurious spread of gourmet food catered by The Creamery. Surely, everyone must have gone back for seconds and thirds!
As they enjoyed good food and good company, guests were entertained with a musical show by Clowning Around and an exciting balloon show by Tectonix.
Vacuum-insulated water bottles with the classy “Rococoesque” designs and bolster pillows made perfect giveaways for Jacobo’s guests to take home after the wonderful celebration.
Indeed, this was a birthday to remember. Many happy returns, Jacobo!
