Ava’s Marie Antoinette Themed Party – 1st Birthday

If there’s one thing we see around here, it’s a lot of birthday celebrations. And while we love a classic party theme, we certainly get excited when something new comes along – like a Marie Antoinette theme.

I had the chance to watch Marie Antoinette – a film by Sofia Coppola – back when I was in college. The film portrays the lavish life of the famous Queen of France. It captures her royal lifestyle – everything from eloquent banquets to breathtaking gowns with tiers and tiers of pastel fabrics. Marie Antoinette is the epitome of beauty, luxury, and grandeur when it comes to style and fashion, and there are many books, operas, and films inspired by her. In our time, celebrations inspired by her are becoming all the rage too.

Ava turned one with a spectacular celebration in Manila Polo Club. Her mom wanted to make her first birthday stylish and stunning – and nothing was better than a bash inspired by Marie Antoinette. The setting was ultimately fun and glamorous! Jun Hen of Flower Facade stuck to soft pink, blue, and gold for decorations and treats since Marie Antoinette color palette is in the pastel range. With every chair, every vase, every table so intricately carved and gilded, and adorned with rosettes, this bash will inspire you to make your little lady the Queen of France for the day. Check out all the divine details – beautifully captured by Luxe Photography – because it’s never too late to get inspired by Marie Antoinette!

Marie Antoinette loved flowers so much that she wanted all things to come in floral prints. This wall – entirely covered with muted pink rosettes – reinforced the color scheme and added a romantic feel to the décor. The “A” sign embossed on the wall was a regal piece!

The pink ceiling drapes provided just the right amount of elegance to complement the theme. The vintage chandeliers were lovely as is, but with some pink ribbon tied onto them, they were divine!

Jun Hen took a little from the style of Versailles by having ornate pieces perfect for the tablescape. Large blooms were on display to complement the beautiful china. The tea set and gilded candelabra were timeless charms. The feathers added a unique touch! They were made popular by Marie Antoinette, who would adorn her grand, extravagant hairdos with such accessory. Jun Hen spared no detail and also made use of the mini Eiffel tower, Marie Antoinette toppers, mini pillows, and photos in lacquered-style frames as centerpieces.

The dessert table was a magnificent sight! The gold table cover, gold dessert stand, gold tea set, and gold mirrored tray screamed royalty! The green wall panel paired with faux vintage mirror created a fabulous backdrop. Displayed on the vintage mirror was Ava’s cute photo!

A selection of sweet treats was available to feast on, but the pièce de résistance was a Marie Antoinette cake – almost too glorious to consume. This four-tier pink cake by Paper & Flour displayed a dash of French elegance and a smidge of Victorian style. The mini pearls added a little glamour and the gold details added a little glitz. History can’t tell us for sure whether Marie Antoinette ever uttered the famous line: Let them eat cake. But I am certain that these words were shouted with much gusto at Ava’s bash.

It’s not all about the cake though! The pint-sized guests also enjoyed devouring an array of sweet treats like sugar cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, and candies. They all looked delish!

Another wide assortment of desserts was housed in an extension which included macarons, mini cakes, and chocolate puddings perfectly presented in mini glass pots. With a Marie Antoinette backdrop, the room was heavenly!
