Alice in Wonderland Theme Party Ideas
“The secret, Alice, is to surround yourself with people who make your heart smile. It’s then, only then, that you’ll find Wonderland…”
On her 18th birthday, Allexandra’s heart smiled the biggest smile as she had the most wonderful celebration, which was undoubtedly one of the highlights of her life. It takes a party planner extraordinaire like Christine Ong Te Events to bring key people together and give her the birthday that every debutante deserves—from her spectacular gowns to the party venue and styling. EventStyles by Kathy King summoned their best memories of this timeless tale so that every single detail screamed, Wonderland! While they created the perfect Underlandia, Nice Print Photography took all the wonderful photos that Allexandra and her family could look back on with fondness.
Family and friends each received a monogrammed invite, much like the ones you’d receive for a royal banquet. If guests needed any indication of what the party would be like, this deliciously extravagant invitation says it all.
The magic begins as guests go through the entrance and experience what it was like “whiffling through the Tulgey Wood,” as Alice did in Wonderland.
Everyone partied under a canopy of colors that mimicked Allexandra’s splendid gowns. Under silky blue ceiling drapes were wisteria-like purple flowers, blue butterflies, giant red blooms, red teapots, and bouquets of red roses in quaint little birdhouses. Other symbols from the story, like the clock and the key, completed the décor. It was simply fabulous!
In Through the Looking Glass, the land is laid out like a chess board, where Alice encounters some chess pieces. Perfectly curated on the stage is an antique-looking stand with a bouquet of red roses, a vintage book, and an alarm clock. We’re loving those giant chess pieces, and the March Hare’s pocket watch, too!
In the story, Alice finds a table set for a tea party outside the March Hare’s house. This scene was recreated for Allexandra’s photo wall. Guests must have had a great time taking selfies here.
The guests dined with fine silver and glassware on stunningly decorated tables. There were huge round tables with dark silky tablecloths and a huge vase of red and purple blooms for a centerpiece. The VIP tables were on another level, with elegant gold and crystal candelabras and a beautiful arrangement of red and purple flowers.
Allexandra’s towering cake stayed true to Lewis Carroll’s tale, with so many elements of the story flawlessly and deliciously crafted in fondant and icing. The bottom layer was the tree with the rabbit hole through which Alice fell, and around it were the teapot and cups from the Mad Hatter’s high tea. This sweet cake was also decked with Alice’s grassy path, the March Hare’s pocket watch, fondant in the Queen of Heart’s red and white colors, a keyhole presumably the one on the door on the tree leading to the garden, and the Mad Hatter’s feathered hat. Finishing off this absolutely splendid cake is a cute teapot for a cake topper.
Surrounded by her family and friends, Allexandra enters a new chapter in her young life. Cheers to 18 years and even happier ones ahead!
