Toy Story Theme Party Ideas
The wildly popular Pixar and Disney animated film, Toy Story, makes an ideal party theme for kids of all ages. For today’s party inspiration, the creative team from With A Flourish had a different take on the usual setup. Instead of cookie-cutter décor, they aimed for something heartwarming and handcrafted. The result may be simpler but truer to what Toy Story stood for — a childhood filled with toys and imaginative play. Check out the snaps from Grethel Ulang to enjoy the wonderful, whimsical journey.
At the entrance, they made sure to welcome guests with a bang. A red-and-blue lighted arch with the words “Alfonso’s Story”, vividly colored balloons, life-sized toy blocks, and the characters Woody and Buzz was the perfect introduction to the day’s celebration theme.
The ceiling above was covered in white balloons, hand-made clouds, and red, blue, and white Japanese lanterns, with one enormous vintage airplane serving as the ceiling’s focal point.
As Andy’s bedroom was where much of the magic occurred, With A Flourish opted for a boy’s bedroom theme for the stage rather than the customary character standees. We were ecstatic with how the design came out. There’s a bed, a play area, cloud-filled wallpaper, framed photos of the movie’s beloved characters as wall décor, and different kinds of toys.
Keeping in line with the party’s theme, every table was adorned with centerpieces that were inspired by Toy Story movies. Some had a set of Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head dolls that had been lovingly hand-sewn, while others had boxes full of Andy’s cherished vintage toys.
For the kids, their tables looked extra fun. Instead of chairs, there were cushions as seats. Every placement had an assortment of goodies and activities to keep those little hands busy and happy.
Alfonso’s birthday cake was a terrific two-tiered Toy Story-inspired creation. Jessie and Buzz each had a layer dedicated to them, while Woody and his horse Bullseye topped the confection. Of course, other characters were showcased as well, but in the form of sugar cookies.
Little Alfonso was dressed up as Woody, the perfect nod to the main character of the Toy Story franchise. His sister, on the other hand, donned an adorable Jessie getup. How adorbs!
